The Beacon is a 240 acre site of undulating heathland, woodland, grassland, wetlands, rocky outcrops and meadows. Rising to a height of 245m, Beacon Hill is the second highest point in Leicestershire and boasts spectacular views of Charnwood Forest and the Soar Valley. The Country Park supports an important range of plants and animals and is a Site of Special Scientific Interest. Beacon Hill is also the site of a Bronze Age hill fort believed to be up to 3,000 years old. Look out for the unusual rock formation shown below as you run round the track near the summit. You will see why it has been christened the 'Old Man of Beacon Hill'.
The half marathon consists of 2 laps around Beacon Hill Country Park, mostly on compacted multi-use trails. The 10k is a single lap.
There is an event cut off time of 3hrs 15 mins.
